Lithium-ion batteries

Lithium-ion batteries are a promising energy storage solution, but they also present certain risks. Specifically, lithium-ion battery storage solutions present a risk of fire and explosion. In contrast, conventional lead-acid rechargeable batteries can only be used up to 50% capacity before they become damaged. Enphase’s IQ Battery 3 and IQ Battery 3T batteries are similar to each other and offer the same operating specifications. The 3T is seven pounds lighter than the IQ 3 and has the same energy storage capacity. Both batteries are capable of powering up to seven appliances for seven hours in a blackout. They are great for running small appliances during a power outage, but they’re not designed for big appliances.
